THE WONDERFUL WOMEN OF SUGARMILL WOODS


The Women of Sugarmill Woods, Inc. (WSW) is  a 501(C)3 non- profit organization dedicated to serving our community through many volunteer activities. We also help our Community by providing scholarships to deserving Citrus County students (see more on our Education & Scholarships web page).   Our volunteer activities include helping to feed the hungry in Homosassa and Homosassa Springs through our support of WE CARE,  donating time and dollars to Hospice of Citrus County, Casa (center for abused women), and the PATH (homeless shelter).  We also donate to the Homosassa Library on an on-going basis.  Many of our members deliver food to the housebound via the Home Delivered Meals program.  We've also contributed to the Homosassa Wildlife Park and  Chassahowitzka Wildlife Refuge.  We've donated to N.A.M.I. and other organizations.  Our Creative Hands group provides hats for chemo patients and for under our soldier's helmets to keep them warm during the cold desert winters in the Mid East.  They've made quilts for Nursing Home Residents and for the women and children residing at CASA.  They have helped our community in many amazing ways with their sewing skills and handiwork.  In the last 2 years we've also been contributing to the the teen girls at Camp E Nini Hassee.  As you can see, we are much more than a social club.  Whether our members are volunteering in the community or donating to their favorite cause, just being a part of the Women of Sugarmill Woods and attending our events such as our Annual Fashion Show or School-astic Golf Tournament, they are all helping to make our community a better place to live -- and having fun while accomplishing that result.   Our organization has been widely-recognized as one of the best of its kind, being named the Citrus County Chamber of Commerce's  "Outstanding Community Organization" in 2005.  Our membership is growing.  With this growth, we have been able to accomplish more, and have a larger impact upon our community.
